Staff

Our Staff

Our staff is educated in early childhood and are committed to offering individual emotional support and guidance to your child. We also support our teachers through ongoing education and training opportunities. We provide them with resources and give them the freedom to create a unique learning environment for your child. Because of all these things our staff turnover rate is very low.

Our teachers spend their time listening to, playing with, and talking to your children. They are patient when your child needs help or when they need some extra attention (such as when a new child is adjusting to the center).

Meet the Team

  • Ms. Shannon

    Ms. Shannon

    Director

Hello, my name is Ms. Shannon. I have been with APOMO for 5 years. I have four children, two of them are adults and living on their own. I spend most of my time outside of work doing “kid” things with my children. When I take time for myself, I love to read.

I started working in child care almost 30 years ago. I have been a prechool teacher, nanny, and a director at a previous school before I took time off to stay home with my two youngest children. I have many Early Child Education units and an AA with a concentration in Psychology. Since I was a child, I knew that I wanted to work with children. I enjoy watching them grow and learn. Children are my passion, and I am thankful that I have had the experience of helping shape many children’s lives.

    Ms. Vickie

Hello my name is Ms. Vickie. I have worked at A Place of My Own for about 13 years. I was an aide for APOMO for most of those years but then completed the early childhood courses I needed to be a fully qualified preschool teacher. I love my job. I love working with kids and their families. I am a mother of 3 girls and when I’m not at work or school or being mom, I love to paint by number. Thank you for sharing your children with us.

  • Ms. Sabrina

    Ms. Sabrina

Hi, my name is Sabrina, and I've been working in child care/education about 5 years.

I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a preschool teacher. I started babysitting when I was 12 years old and helped with Sunday school classes and vacation bible school here at Crosswalk throughout my teens. I started taking early childhood classes and then life got in the way, but all my experiences have made me into the person I am today.

I worked for 5 years as a nanny, which I loved because it was amazing to see them grow from baby, to toddler, to kindergartner. I also have four nieces and two nephews all under the age of 10, so they have also been part of my decision to complete the classes I needed to start my career.

I am so happy to be here at APOMO with these wonderful people!

  • Ms. Socorro

    Ms. Socorro

I was born and raised in Napa. I always dreamt of becoming a teacher or just working with children. This dream started because I had many children around me as I was growing up and started taking care of them when I was just 15 years old. I attended Napa Valley College and took courses in Child Family Development. I started working as a substitute teacher and that encouraged me to go back to school. While attending school, I was offered a job at the NVC preschool program as a teacher assistant. From there, I worked at the Boys and Girls Club and then St John Baptist School until they closed permanently. I learned a lot of beneficial things through my experiences. The most important thing I learned was how to assist and support children in their learning. After the closing of St Johns, I tried working at a store but it wasn’t what I wanted to do. That brought me to APOMO. APOMO offered me the opportunity to get back to doing what I was born to do….work with children! I am extremely happy and grateful to be a part of A Place of My Own. I love seeing the children learning every day. I love to see the children smiles and it is what encourages me every day to become an even better preschool teacher.

  • Ms. Jolene

    Ms. Jolene

Hello, my name is Ms. Jolene. Before I got into childcare, I worked with the elderly since 1998. I took my CNA classes here in Napa and received a CNA certification as well . I did caregiving for 20+ years. Then I decided to switch my career and work with children. I knew that was something I would love to do. I did some babysitting growing up and worked at the Boys and Girls Club. My first job as a teachers aide was at another local preschool in Napa. Since then, I wanted to be a teacher so I enrolled into child development courses at Napa Valley College. I am still enrolled in school and working towards completing my units to be a fully qualified teacher. I have been with A Place of My Own for 3 months and I can say it has been nothing but good experiences. I feel very blessed.
